The President’s Report
Fellow Members.
With the festive season and New Year celebrations fading into the oblivion, it is now time to look forward to what we trust will be yet another memorable period for us all and I trust you are all well and truly rested, happy, content and looking forward to the New Year, the “Year of the Rabbit”.
It was extremely gratifying to see and hear the various expressions from the Members and Visitors on winning one of the many Hams on offer and the final draws of the Trailer full of goodies, Boat and Trailer and numerous cash prizes available for the Bonus raffle. Congratulations to all those lucky winners, unfortunately, none of that luck came my way.
With regard to the weekly raffle draws, a number of requests have been received to perhaps alter the structure of the prizes being awarded at each raffle, with the thought of Vouchers, as a choice, being given in place of the usual meat trays. The Board has decided a Survey will be conducted at both Clubs to ascertain exactly the wishes of the Members. I trust all Members will give their opinions on the matter.
During the past year, a number of significant improvements have been made for the enjoyment of the Members, particularly at the Sport’s Club. Shades have been erected in the Outdoor Dining area, Western side of the Club, which I might add, look absolutely sensational. The dance floor area has also been extended, Blinds have also been erected at the Easter side, the entire Club has had a complete coat of paint, new menus have been added to Bistro, new pool table installed and finally, new carpet has been ordered and will be fitted in the very near future
All in all, the Sport’s club is becoming the showcase of the Shoalhaven District and I sincerely trust Members truly appreciate the numerous modern and up to date amenities provided for their comfort.
Another major improvement has been the installation of new computers which will allow the sporting bodies to maintain and retain a comprehensive listing of all Club Champions and various Club achievements at the touch of a computer screen, for the benefit of all concerned. I do however request all Subsidiary Club Presidents ensure all their relevant details are given in writing to the office for transferring to the computer, if you haven’t already done so.
Once again the sporting bodies are gearing up for their various competitions, at the moment, the Cricketers have been doing battle for some weeks now and at present are on top of three of the four grades entered and leading the Club Championship. Keep up the good work fellers, don’t drop the ball.
I wish all sporting teams the very best for the season, give it your best shot and remember. Winning is very nice indeed, but to be selected and represent your club, regardless of results, that is satisfaction.
During the past month the Club has also very sadly lost a number of other members, condolences are extended to the loved who grieve their loss, our thoughts are with you, treasure the many memories you have of them, as they are precious memories and to those on the sick list and in hospital we wish you a speedy recovery back to good health and family.
Keep safe and be kind to each other. Sayonara for now.
Kev Duffey President.

SHOALHAVEN RUGBY REPORT
Shoals looking to step up in 2012 season
The Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen/Ricoh Shoals Rugby Club is looking to rebuild after a disappointing 2011 season. The club was hit by numerous injuries and retirements last season but the positive aspect coming out of all that was the ‘blooding’ of a number of younger players into the senior teams. A series of player recruitment and retention steps are being implemented which should restore Shoals’ competitiveness in the coming season. Early indications are that these efforts will pay dividends.
The Illawarra District Rugby Union has implemented a series of changes to the competition this year which should result in a better competition format and a lot less byes and forfeits. Also there should be a return to the more familiar home and away sequencing of matches. The club looks forward also to hosting night matches this year as it takes advantage of the new lighting installed for the Waratahs/Western Force Trial Game in February last year.
As mentioned in an earlier report Shoals’ junior players have been making headlines as they move into the senior and representative ranks. Will Miller who played in one off test matches against an English schoolboys and the All Blacks junior side then made the Australian Under 18s, 7s team for the Youth Commonwealth Games on the Isle of Man last season and has picked up yet another milestone in his young career. He was selected to play for the senior Australian 7s team that played in South Africa in the HSBC Sevens World Series in late 2011. Will had several runs with the side which although beaten on the way through played with great heart for a very young side. Go Will go!!
The Club however was deeply saddened with the passing of Alan Calcraft, one of its finest players and great administrators. Alan, a local boy from the farm, played many a game with Shoals as a forward and very large half back. He was an exceptionally popular player and later headed the Club as its hard working President and was instrumental in setting the scene for the club’s initial first grade premiership in 2008. Alan will be greatly missed throughout the area, but particularly so at Shoals.
Until next month from the “Rah Rah's

Shoalhaven Rowing Junior Development
As a promotion for rowing in the Shoalhaven and in an effort to recruit new junior members, the Shoalhaven Rowing Club conducted a junior development program during the school holidays. With perfect weather and enthusiastic participants and assisted by club junior members coach Andrew Parry conducted an introduction to rowing program over four days, where participants were given instruction on land based drills, rowing safety and the on water practical experience. Individuals got to practice and develop their skills in crew boats as well as the single scull. All participants are keen to continue and test their ability in the race format. If you would like to give it ago details can be found on our web site (www.shoalhavenrowing.com)
The Shoalhaven Rowing Club Christmas function was a great success with beginner, novice and experienced rowers matching up in a Random draw for an upriver race on Christmas Eve. Weather and water conditions were perfect with all the club's Big Boats fully utilised, and crews had to stop at coloured buckets on the riverbank to collect clues for a Triva competition back at the club shed. Trivia was followed by Bacon and Egg Rolls with Pesto and Steak sandwiches with caramelised onions and home made Chutney catered by Katrina and Harry.
Don’t miss our canteen at the Nowra Show Pavilion (under the Grandstand) for Vietnamese rolls, Watermelon, Bacon and Egg rolls with Pesto, Muffins and Slices, drinks, and Steak Sandwiches (Check your Show map on entry for our Meal Deal)
If you would like to give rowing a go details can be found on our web site (www.shoalhavenrowing.com), or else come and have a chat 7.00 am most Saturdays at the club shed at Paringa Park off SCENIC DRIVE under the hospital Introductory orientation session is free, and Learn To Row is $60 for six sessions. check out our club calendar on our website

School Rowing
NOWRA high continues to conduct and encourage rowing as a school sport each Thursday this term. Unfortunately the time constraints do not allow for in depth coaching but enjoyment and minor skill improvements are evident each week. Some show great potential. If we can harness these athletes along with any from the TID this is something the club could well pursue to bolster our junior ranks.
Of course, as always we need a group of dedicated personnel to drive these actions.

Boating & Coaching Tips
Rigging
Height of the Swivel (gate) relative to the Seat.
Standard measurement;
Sweep—15cm to 18cm
Scull— 14cm to 16cm
In sculling the Bowside swivel should be set 0.5 to 1.5 cm higher than the Stroke side gate to allow for the difference in hand height that occurs
at the crossover. There are three basic considerations in setting
the height of the swivel:
1. The heavier the crew the higher the swivel.
2. The bigger the rowers thighs the higher the swivel. It is necessary for the rower to be able to clear their thighs on recovery and keep the oar off the water at the same time.
3. The larger the shell in relation to the crew the lower the swivel.
In rough water it is some times necessary to raise the height of the gates, to allow better clearance on recovery.

THE CRICKET CLUB REPORT
President - George Dickie
Vice-President - Paul Meakins
Secretary - Christine Wright
Treasurer - Cathy McMenamin
Committee - Sharen Balazic, Daniel Gleeson, Rachael Croese, John Wright, Mark Biggs.
THE CRICKET CLUB REPORT
The Cricket Club is maintaining a strong momentum and is pleased to report that (3) teams are playing off for One Day Titles on the 29th January in First, Second & Third Grade. Congratulations and good luck to those teams. First grade also finished on top of their pool in T20 and will be eager to make the final.
It is great to see the Club still positioned at the top of the Club Championship however Berry have narrowed the margin to just (30) points so we will need to keep those consistent performances going each week.
A special mention goes to our Second grade Captain Paul Meakins was has belted back to back centuries in his last two innings and is enjoying a solid season. His strong performances has enabled 2nd grade to take the lead and would have to be firming as favourites for the title.
Junior cricket starts back on 23rd January and it is pleasing to see our junior players enjoying their cricket. Our under 16 team is back to their best and playing well much to the delight of their Coach.
Congratulations to Lain Beckett & Brady Spelta who both had a good Carnival with Southern Zone recently at Bradman Cup. They have also performed well in Shoalhaven’s Jeffrey Cup, selectors have placed their faith in these players by selecting them at such a young age (15) playing in under 21’s is a great achievement.
On the social front we have our Trivia night booked in for 18th February at the main Club. A busy weekend is planned as the Pink Stumps Day is on the next day at Hayden Drexel Oval and is expected to be a huge day.
Anyone who follows cricket should keep an eye on our website, all the latest information is being updated constantly. www.shoalhavenexservicemenscricketclub.com.au

Now the real year end bash was held at Worrigee on Sunday 4 December and we all thought the rain had gone. The 3 stick event prior to the AGM and presentation lunch - involvement was keen. Players turned up early under leaden skies and guess what? It bucketed down, however undaunted our intrepid members launched themselves into the fray - brollies, galoshes and wet weather gear and guess what? After 3 holes it stopped, no flies and a coolish day. There was much rejoicing, which bubbled over to the post match revelries.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRO
February already and now the effects of the Festive Season have worn off, we can settle into another full year of golf events. It was great to see the ever increasing number of tourists over X-mas and new year, with many first time visitors out having a social game and thoroughly enjoying our golf course and Club's facilities. Not surprising they call it the silly season, because it was staggering, the number of players who turn up to play each year, throwing their money around on green fees, hire gear, carts, etc.. Gotta love that, I only wish they'd stay longer. Always welcome!
The golf course is looking great and it's a perfect time for everyone to get back into the swing of things and enjoy the long daylight hours and play golf. One afternoon I was out having a hit waiting for carts to be returned and when I checked my watch, it was nearly 8pm.
Not much to report yet, only to wish everyone a great golfing year and look forward to seeing you all soon when next you are down for a game.

LADIES GOLF CLUB REPORT
Ladies Competition Golf every Tuesday.
Many clubs along the south east coast have kangaroos hopping across their fairways or they are found sheltering under tress in the sweltering summer heat. I have seen the occasional snake at some courses and have even seen an echidna going about its business. Here at Worrigee Links we have a pair of breeding black swans who like to move from one water hazard to the other (located a good distance from each other) dad settles the babies safely on mumma swan's back and then escorts his family across the golf course to the safety of his water hazard destination.
All golf stops on the course while the royal entourage passes. What a spectacular sight, we golfing members at Worrigee feel so privileged - come see for yourselves and enjoy the golf at the same time!

THE SNOOKER CLUB REPORT
Well we hope everyone is over the festive season and the kids back to school and your visitors are gone for another few weeks till Easter. and you enjoyed every minute of it all. anyway the Snooker season is due to start in the first 2 weeks of March, and we have a meeting in February to see how many teams and players for the 2012 season is to be played out for this year .
After going to press the snooker club held their AGM at the main Club and we will assume that the same committee will be elected as per the Kangaroo court justice system allows. But we will let you know in the next newsletter for March.
So we once again wish the best of luck to our teams and player's for the 2012 season and look forward to another good snooker year for the Ex-Servo's. So that’s about all for now from the person who all call the Jagger,
WESHALLSEEYAONTHEFELTS. JAGGER.

INDOOR SPORTS CLUB REPORT
2012 is already here - Well it is already here and January is nearly gone. Happy New Year to everybody I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and have come back feeling fr5esh & healthy. That probably won't apply to everyone and those that have health problems I hope they're soon over.
Our Christmas party went very well and we had just over 50 people partaking in the delicious food and served up at the Fusion Restaurant.
In our bowls point score held over the year, the overall winner was Tommy Smith. The other winners were Maureen Smith, Gloria Martin, Debbie Goodsell and Joy Walsh. Congratulations to Debbie Goodsell and Ray Salway and after a seemingly whirlwind time became engaged before Christmas.
Fay Taket is still having her ups and downs with her heath and I hope 2012 brings her better health. Jan Edwards is still having lots of problems has been in and out of hospital. Glen is standing up to things quite well with going to work and visiting the hospital. Jan and Allan Russell have both picked up and are having better health.
Maureen and Tom Smith went for a lovely trip together with Shirley & Stan Warburton, so both he and Maureen should come back fit and ready for bowls, Evonne Gershwend has been in Sydney looking after her daughter's children after her daughter underwent a very big leg operation and is coming along slowly. Bette Matthews has picked up a lot and probably has been gallivanting around like she used to.
Competitions bowls start in February. I hope Editor John's health has picked up.
That's it for this month. Yours in Sport Joy Walsh

EX SERVOS LADIES KICK UP THEIR HEELS AT XMAS PARTY.
On Monday the 12th December 2011 the Shoalhaven Ex Servo Lady Bowlers held their Xmas Party and Concert at the Sports Club. There were about 24 ladies in attendance with President Shirley Warburton welcoming special guest Patron Eileen MacNiel Before Lunch some of the Ladies put on a Concert with everyone really getting in the spirit of Xmas and thanks to the Social Committee the Jack Elliott Room was beautifully decorated.
The Ladies performed several skits which were hilarious and Pat Stoddart played Xmas Music on her keyboard in between Lunch Courses.
The skits were organised by Lesley Farish, Deion Thurston and Pat Leach with Frances, Deion Pat Leach and Lesley entertaining us with the Can Can,
Lesley also had one of her beautiful dogs performing for us.
Past President Lorraine Johnson stole the show with her Egyptian Belly Dance. The Social girls organised a 80th Birthday cake for Bowls Organiser Betty Pascall who turns 80 on Xmas Day.
Everyone had a fun filled day and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and joining in the skits. President Shirley Warburton wished everyone a Merry Xmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Look forward to seeing you on the Green in the New Year.
Pat Stoddart. Publicity Officer.

The Men's Bowling Club Report.
The Men's Bowling Club Report.
Final of the 2011 Mixed Fours has been played. The 2 sides for this prestigious event were in the red corner – Sue Rose – Steve Hollington - Alan Rose and Gary Trautsch. In the blue corner were Deion & Gary Thurston – Laurie Perkins and John Humphries.
I was not privileged to witness this match but listening to narrative from people that were there, the score did not indicate the standard of play reached during the match. Although all players excelled during the game, I was informed that it was some brilliant bowling from Skip Humphries that turned the tide on numerous occasions.
A slow start from Team Trautsch didn't help their cause either and Team Humphries established a substantial lead of 9 shots before they worried the scoreboard. Team Trautsch did stage a fight back mid game but on the day Team Humphries were really “On Song” it seems and their opposition raised the white flag in surrender to a superior force on the 18th end and in doing handed the championship title to Deion & Gary Thurston – Laurie Perkins & John Humphries, Well played.
A successful Presentation Day was held in early December and our 2011 champions are:

The 2012 Club Fours is almost to the Final stage as this report goes in to print. The first semi-final was played recently. The two teams involved were Ken Bowers – Gary Thurston – Alex Leach and Alex Lattanzio versus (sub) Garnet Eastment John Newbold – Kirk Brown & Eddie Lee.
On paper, this game appeared to be evenly matched for bowling talent but on the day, Team Lattanzio completely mastered their opposition. It was heard around the green that Skip Alex played ”Out of his Socks” on the day. His team were never headed right throughout the game and booked their berth into the Finals with a scoreboard reading 23 – 17.
The majority of our immediate thoughts within the Bowling club at this time is concentrated on the upcoming District Pennant competition. Many trial games were arranged by the committee and the activity to date was as follows:
We had three teams playing Pennant trials away from home Saturday 14th January. All were successful at their various venues giving much confidence to not only the club but also to the bowlers embarking on their first season playing in the District Pennant competition. This game was also allied to an annual challenge between the two clubs and the combined scoreboards were 152 shots to 116 in favour of the Mighty Ex Servos teams. Well done fellas.
The No 7's travelled to the Greenwell Point BC and manager Pat Leach steered this team to a win also at that venue. Her report for the afternoon was as follows:

President Eddy and his committee asked me to write and thank you for organising the Sponsorship of $2,000. with Tooheys toi be used at our Triples tournament.
We had 22 teams on the green for the 2 days enjoying the facilities that the Club had to offer. Some of the visitors who had never been here before were surprised on what we have here, and I had several compliments from players about the Club and surrounds. Also the tournament and the smooth way that it ran. Sponsorship can be the biggest headache when arranging a tournament. With your help this was made easy and allowed the rest of the proceedings to run smoothly.
So once again we thank you for your help and we do appreciate what you have done for us.
Yours Sincerely Alan Rose Honorary Secretary.
...........................
Please accept this letter of appreciation with the greatest thanks from the Albatross Netball Club for the generous donation of the Club Room on Saturday 13th August fr the holding of our inaugural Trivia night, as well as donated goods especially the bottle of wine and spirits. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated. Also please accept our thanks for the staff that were all incredibly helpful and professional.
The night proved to be very successful for the Club and from all accounts it was enjoyed by all who attended.
As we are hoping to increase the numbers in the 2012 season, the money raised will be channeled into buying new training equipment for the Junior members of our club including balls ropes, cones, agility ladders and reflex balls.
Sincerely Nicole Dunkley President Albatross Club

The Secretary Manager's Report
The Secretary Manager's Report
Congratulations to 2nd chance $1,000 winners for
November Darrell Barker No. 12056
And for December Peta Kent No.9447
Membership as at 11/1/12 - 12336
Gaming Machine pay-outs to lucky winners during November $1,907,358.40
and during December $2,051,813.05 Congratulations to all the winners who had a share in these windfalls.
Repainting of the Main Club is now complete and installation of the new umbrellas at the Sports Club is also complete with the exception of the installation of bird mesh to their underside to stop birds roosting on them and consequently defecating on the tables.
Replacement carpet for the Sports Club has been ordered and it is anticipated that delivery will be sometime in April with installation to take place some time after that.
I am unable to comment on the Government’s latest decision regarding Mandatory Pre Commitment as neither myself or ClubsNSW have seen the fine print however it certainly looks promising as the industry has always been in favour a trial prior to the introduction of such a scheme in order to ascertain if in actual fact it will help problem gamblers and in addition there are other matters to be thrashed out in M/S Gillard's proposed policies such as $250.00 daily limits on ATM withdrawals.
Lucky winners of the Christmas Bonus Raffle Prizes of a trailer full of goodies at the Main Club and a boat, motor and trailer at the Sports Club appear in the February issue of the “On Line” Newsletter. My congratulations to all the winners.
Trading over the Christmas period was quite good and whilst not setting the world on fire it did compare quite favourably with last year.
I think that is all the news for this month. My best wishes to all for a healthy New Year and to those not feeling too well at this stage, my sincere hopes that your recovery will be swift and we see you again at either of the Clubs.
Regards Chris Allen Secretary Manager

Australia
(Jackie Y)
When the shearing sheds are silent and the stock camps fallen quiet
When the gidgee coals no longer glow across the outback night
And the bush is forced to hang a sign, 'gone broke and won't be back'
And spirits fear to find a way beyond the beaten track
When harvesters stand derelict upon the wind swept plains
And brave hearts pin their hopes no more on chance of loving rains
When a hundred outback settlements are ghost towns overnight
When we've lost the drive and heart we had to once more see us right
When 'Pioneer' means a stereo and 'Digger' some backhoe
And the 'Outback' is behind the house, there's nowhere else to go
And 'Anzac' is a biscuit brand and probably foreign owned
And education really means brainwashed and neatly cloned
When you have to bake a loaf of bread to make a decent crust
And our heritage once enshrined in gold is crumbling to dust
And old folk pay their camping fees on land for which they fought
And fishing is a great escape; this is until you're caught
When you see our kids with yankee caps and resentment in their eyes
And the soaring crime and hopeless hearts is no longer a surprise
When the name of RM Williams is a yuppie clothing brand
Not a product of our heritage that grew off the land
When offering a hand makes people think you'll amputate
And two dogs meeting in the street is what you call a 'Mate'
When 'Political Correctness' has replaced all common sense
When you're forced to see it their way, there's no sitting on the fence
Yes one day you might find yourself an outcast in this land
Perhaps your heart will tell you then, 'I should have made a stand'
Just go and ask the farmers that should remove all doubt
Then join the swelling ranks who say, 'don't sell Australia out'

WORRY
(Dorothy T)
Is there an imaginary cut off period when Offspring become accountable For their own actions?
Is there some wonderful moment when Parents can become detached spectators in The lives of their children and shrug,
'It's Their life,' and feel nothing?
When I was in my twenties, I stood in a hospital corridor Waiting for doctors to put a few stitches In my son's head and I asked,
'When do you stop worrying?'
The nurse said, 'When they get out of the accident stage..'
My Parents just smiled faintly And said nothing.
When I was in my thirties, I sat on a little chair in a classroom And heard how one of my children Talked incessantly, disrupted the class, And was headed for a career Making license plates.
As if to read my mind, a teacher said,
'Don't worry, they all go through this stag And then you can sit back,
Relax and enjoy them.'
My Parents just smiled faintly And said nothing.
When I was in my forties, I spent a lifetime waiting For the phone to ring, The cars to come home, The front door to open.
A friend said,
'They're trying to find themselves. 'Don't worry! In a few years, they'll be adults. 'They'll be off on their own They'll be out of your hair'
My Parents just smiled faintly And said nothing.
By the time I was 50, I was sick & tired of being vulnerable. I was still worrying over my children, But there was a new wrinkle.. Even though they were on their own
I continued to anguish over their failures, Be tormented by their frustrations and Absorbed in their disappointments.. And there was nothing I could do about it.
My Parents just smiled faintly And said nothing.
My friends said that When my kids got married I could stop worrying
And lead my own life.
I wanted to believe that, But I was haunted by my parent's warm smiles And their occasional, 'You look pale. Are you all right' ?
'Call me the minute you get home'. Are you depressed about something?'
My friends said that When I became a grandparent That I would get to enjoy The happy little voices yelling Grandma! Papa! But now I find that I worry Just as much about the little kids As the big ones.
How can anyone cope With all this Worry?
Can it be that parents are sentenced To a lifetime of worry? Is concern for one another Handed down like a torch To blaze the trail of human frailties And the fears of the unknown?
Is concern a curse or is it A virtue that elevates us To the highest form of earthly creation?
Recently, one of my own children Became quite irritable, saying to me, 'Where were you? I've been calling for 3 days, And no one answered I was worried.'
I smiled a warm smile. The torch has been passed.

LAUGH A LITTLE EVERY DAY....& The World According to Bert
LAUGH A LITTLE EVERY DAY....
There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it. For example I am sitting here right now thinking how nice it is that wrinkles & fat don't hurt.

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO BERT
An Old Farmer's Advice:
- Every path has a few puddles.
- When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
- The best sermons are lived, not preached.
- Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
- Don't judge folks by their relatives.
- Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
- Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
- Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.
- Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
- If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
- Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
- The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
- Always drink upstream from the herd.
- Good judgement comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgement.
- Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.
- If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

A Cruise ship moment
(Joy W)
A lady was standing at the railing of a cruise ship holding on to her hat tightly so that the wind would not blow it off.
A gentleman passing politely said “Pardon me Madam, I don't want to appear too forward but did you know the wind is blowing your skirt up”
“Yes I did know” the lady answered “but I need both hands to hopld on to this hat”
The gent said “But surely you must know that the wind is blowing your skirt so high that your private parts are being exposed”
The lady looked down and then up to the man's eyes and said “Sir, whatever you see down there is 85 years old. I only bought this hat yesterday.

Childbirth at 65
(Ken T)
With all the new technology regarding fertility recently, a 65-year-old friend of mine was able to give birth...
When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, I went to visit.
'May I see the new baby?' I asked
'Not yet ,' She said 'I'll make coffee and we can chat for a while first.'
Thirty minutes had passed, and I asked, 'May I see the new baby now?'
'No, not yet,' She said.
After another few minutes had elapsed,
I asked again, 'May I see the baby now?' 'No, not yet,' replied my friend.
Growing very impatient, I asked, 'Well, when can I see the baby?'
'WHEN HE CRIES!' she told me.
'WHEN HE CRIES?' I demanded. 'Why do I have to wait until he CRIES?'
'BECAUSE I FORGOT WHERE I PUT HIM, O.K.?!!'

The Bear Remover
(Alan F)
A man in rural Wisconsin woke up one morning to find a bear on his roof. Not exactly sure what to do, he takes a look in the Yellow Pages, and sure enough, there's an ad for "Up North Bear Removers".
He calls the number and the bear remover says he'll be over in 30 minutes. The bear remover arrives and gets out of his van. He's got a ladder, a baseball bat, a 12 gauge shotgun and a mean ole pit bull dog.
"What are you going to do?" the home owner asks.
"I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off the roof, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van."
He then hands the shotgun to the home owner.
"What's the shotgun for?" asks the home owner.
"If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog."

The Porch
(Kevin D)
A blonde teenage girl, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a 'handy-woman' and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighbourhood.
She went to the front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do.
'Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch,' he said. 'How much will you charge me?'
Delighted, the girl quickly responded, 'How about $50?' The man agreed and told her that the paint brushes and everything she would need were in the garage.
The man's wife, hearing the conversation said to her husband, 'Does she realise that our porch Goes ALL the way around the house?'
He responded, 'That's a bit cynical, isn't it?'
The wife replied, 'You're right.... I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blonde jokes.'
Later that day, the blonde came to the door to collect her money. 'You're finished already?' the startled husband asked.
'Yes, the blonde replied, and I even had paint left over, so I gave it two coats. Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50.00 and handed it to her along with a ten dollar tip.
'And by the way,' the blonde added, 'it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus".

Drinking and driving
Shirley F)
I would like to share an experience with you all, about drinking and driving.
As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.
A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends at the Club and had a few too many beers and some rather nice red.
Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before .... I took a bus home. Sure enough I passed an RBT but as it was a bus they waved it past.
I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it from!

Business is Business
(Dorothy T)
A Chinese bloke goes to a Jew to buy black bras, size 38.
The Jew, known for his skills as a businessman, says that black bras are rare and that he is finding it very difficult to buy them from his suppliers. Therefore he has to charge $50.00 for them.
The Chinese guy buys 25 pairs.
He returns a few days later and this time orders fifty.
The Jew tells him that they have become even harder to get and charges him $60.00 each.
The Chinese guy returns a month later and buys the Jew's remaining stock of 50, and this time for $75.00 each.
The Jew is somewhat puzzled by the large demand for black size 38 bras and asks the Chinese guy, "...please tell me - What do you do with all these black bras?"
The Chinese guy answers: "I cut them in half and sell them as skull caps to you Jews for $200.00 each."

He works in mysterious Ways
(Peter S)
Sister Mary Ann, who worked for a home health agency, was out making her rounds visiting home-bound patients when she ran out of fuel. As luck would have it, a service station was just a block away.
She walked to the station to borrow a can and buy some petrol. The attendant told her that the only can he owned had been loaned out, but she could wait until it was returned. Since Sister Mary Ann was on the way to see a patient, she decided not to wait and walked back to her car.
She looked for something in her car that she could fill with fuel and spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient. Always resourceful, Sister Mary Ann carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with petrol, and carried the full bedpan back to her car.
As she was pouring the fuel into her tank, two leather clad bikers watched from across the street.. One of them turned to the other and said, 'If it starts, I'm turning Catholic.'!!

The Cab Driver
(Bert W)
If you've ever had an Indian taxi driver you'll love this one ...........
A drunk woman, stark naked, jumped into a taxi at a Durban Cab Rank.
The Indian driver opened his eyes wide and stared at the woman. He made no attempt to start the Cab.
"What's wrong with you Luv, haven't you ever seen a naked woman before?"
"I'll not be staring at you lady, I am telling you, that would not be proper, where I am coming from".
"Well if you're not staring at me Luvie, what are you doing then?"
"Well, I am looking and looking, and I am thinking to myself, where is this lady keeping the money to be paying me with."
