Difficult Scoring at The Grange

A clear and cool morning with a very heavy dew welcomed players at The Grange golf course at Kembla Grange.  This long course was destined to play even longer following the recent heavy rains which made the ground very heavy and meant there was no ‘run’ on the fairways.

21 players teed off, with Linda Trusler leading the field home with a steady 36 points. To make it a Ladies Day, Jenniffer Goodall was the first runner up with 32 points, however this was on a count-back from both Michael Pearce and Jason Jay.

Gary de Banke compiled the best of the rest Front 9 score with 17 points with Les Gernyi also scoring 17 points  to take out the prize for the best Back 9.

Linda was in excellent touch, being the only player to equal their handicap (no handicap breakers) and in the course of doing this also took home the: nearest the pin on the 18th, Ladies Long drive and Ladies Drive and Pitch. Well done Linda.

The rest of the field found the course pretty tough, getting off the fairways proved to be very troublesome, with balls being difficult to find in the long rough.

Ewan Young took home the Moto Parts on The Move voucher for his nearest the pin on the 7th hole, while Luke Bowden won the Stanley Johns Men’s Wear voucher for his drive and pitch on the 14th hole.

The other ball winners were: 4th hole NTP – Keith Muller; 10th hole NTP – Glenn Summerfield; Men’s Long drive A grade – Luke Bowden; Men’s Long Drive B grade – Les Gernyi.

The next match is the at St Georges Basin Golf Course on Sunday 21st June, hitting off at 7:30am. Please advise your intention to play to Captain Paul Kirk (0424 243 005).
