Fine but Heavy Conditions at The Basin

A cool and early start greeted the 21 Ex-Servo’s Social Golf players at St Georges Basin Golf Course on Sunday 21st June. Despite the heavy conditions, Henry Wakeford played consistent golf to take the win on the day with 42 points. Murray Smith edged Ashley Hoogwerf for second place on a count-back with both players scoring 40 points.
Garry de Banke missed the podium despite breaking his handicap (39 points), but took home the prize for the Front 9, nearest the pin on the 15th, and the Stanley Johns Men’s Wear voucher for the Men’s Drive and Pitch on the 3rd hole. A great haul.
Michael Pearce took out the Back 9 prize, nudging out Peter Morgan on a count-back. Michael also won the NTP on the 13th hole. Both Michael and Peter experienced some difficulty on the tees, with Peter mis-timing his tee shot applying too much back spin to have the ball land behind him. Michael drilled his tee shot into the treated pine sleepers at the front of the tee box to see the ball ricochet straight up and down, landing just in front of him.
The 2 playing ladies shared the spoils, with Judy Wakeford taking out the Ladies Longest Drive on the 9th and Linda Trusler winning the Drive and Pitch on the 8th hole.
Barry Wright won the Moto Parts on the Move voucher for his NTP on the 10th.
Dave Suffolk was the other ball winner on the day, taking out the NTP on the 2nd and Men’s B grade long drive on the 9th.
None of the A-Graders were able keep the ball on the fairway to contest the A-Grade longest drive.
All members of the Club welcome new player: Mick Edwards..
