Hot weather, cold scoring!
Ewan Young continued his good form to take out the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens Social Golf Club’s February game at Port Kembla Golf Course, backing up his win in the January round.
Despite the fine and warm conditions, the scoring was difficult at Port, probably due to the difficult pin positions for the Pennants games that tees off just be the Ex-Servo’s round. 16 members and 2 guests teed off, not expecting the scoring to be so hard.
Ewan, Derek Trusler and Henry Wakeford all scored 34 points, with Ewan edging out Derek and Henry on a count-back.
Charlie Hawkins solid 19 points won him the front 9, fading slightly on the back 9 to again just miss out on a major prize. The back 9 was won by Captain Paul Kirk with 18 points.
Nearest the Pin ball winners were: 3rd Derek Trusler, 8th Moto Parts on the Move voucher: Charlie Hawkins, 12th Glenn Summerfield and 15th Michael Pearce.
The 18th hole longest drive winners were: Murray Smith (A Grade) and Henry Wakeford (B Grade). None of the lady golfers were able to keep their ball on the fairway.
Derek Trusler won the Stanley Johns Men’s Wear voucher for his drive and pitch on the 7th, while Judy Wakeford took out the ladies drive and pitch on the 7th.
There were no handicap breakers.
The next match is at St Georges Basin Golf Course on Sunday 20th March. Please advise your intention to play to Captain Paul Kirk (0424 243 005).
