WET WET WET ... this was the story of the last 6 months of golf for the members of the Ex-Servicemen's Social Golf Club, but as usual the golf must go on and that's why as President I am pleased to present my 3rd end of year report.
With golf courses closed and championship matches cancelled due to flooding, we all still managed to enjoy a great year of golfing throughout the South Coast. This was achievable due to the hard work and quick thinking of the following Committee Members; Vice President Judy Wakeford, Secretary Robert Pender, Treasurer Phillip Rimmer, Captain Derek Trusler, Committee Members: Errol Gear, Murray Smith, Mark Willett, and Graham Duke. Thank you very much.
I must now thank the financial support of the Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen's Club who make our golf day great value. A thank you also goes to our match day sponsors, Moto Parts on the move for all your ongoing support with nearest the pin vouchers. Thank you also to our generous local businesses, Coolangatta Winery, South Coast Providores, Coolangatta's Big Foot, Nowra Driving Range and Boost Juice Nowra Fair for helping us out with raffle prizes. With the support of all these people and businesses it means we are able to win something throughout the year.
Captain, Derek Trusler has once again booked all our dates for next year, so everyone can plan ahead. Our first round is at Kiama on the 15th January, then moving onto the usual program of stableford events, challenge matches and of course the Bob Pender Ambrose Day. We may even get to play all 18 holes at Shoalhaven Heads as construction is underway with the last 3 holes.
Congratulations to Bob Pender for a solid two rounds of golf at the annual golf weekend away, winning both days of golf and 10 points ahead of his closest challenger.
That brings me to the end of this report and I hope all our members and families have a great Christmas and New Year. Congratulations to all our Championship winners and I hope to see everyone in 2012.
